Not So Disabled After All

You are not a DISABLED PERSON Label
Today has started off as a reminder that I have to take medical conditions into account in the daily course of my life; a part of but not THE LIFE. I have met and seen extraordinary disAbled people in my life. I have also met extraordinarily disabled people as well in that they have taken on the mantle of DISABLED and substituted any other definition of and for themselves. This is a trap! Don't fall in! There are days when I want to lay down like a dog and cry "Uncle!!!". But they are not my identity, bad moments and bad days are just that like anyone else in occurrence if not in substance. The trick is to not get caught putting oneself permanently into the DISABLED PERSON category of life. That is something that what I like to fondly refer to as "Normies" do; they define us as DISABLED PERSON and nothing else; not a painter, a writer, a secretary, a mother, a sister, a daughter, a child of God, a member of many different groups that cut across all barriers. Resist the normies! You are not DISABLED PERSON. You are an individual that has problems like anyone else and having medical conditions that disable one periodically or even daily does not have to define who you are.

Don't Live in a Box
I decided to call my blog "Not So Disabled After All" because disabled was the category to which I was assigned and lived out the last 14 years. I no longer reside there; rather I have decided to live in life. A life I create. A life I live. A life I define. Never allow anyone to put you in a box!
